[IL-Talk] Ohio Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee Workshop on Optic Nerve Hypoplasia

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of the National Federation of the Blind of Ohio Cordially invites you to a discussion, "Optic Nerve Hypoplasia: Building the Federation among a Unique Community of the Blind." This workshop will take place on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Zoom. Further details on the access platform will be available shortly.

This workgroup will be conducted by Christopher Sabine, Secretary of the National Federation of the Blind of Ohio, Cincinnati Chapter and President and Founder of ONH Consulting, the only firm providing educational planning and community referrals for families of children with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and related conditions. By the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to do the following:


  *   Give a definition of Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and outline at least three ways in which the condition can affect a child's development other than vision.
  *   Outline at least three significant medical conditions commonly experienced by children and adults with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and potential accommodations or strategies to thrive with them in a classroom or community setting;
  *   Describe at least three psychosocial and behavioral characteristics that children and adults with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia often demonstrate;
  *   Outline at least five strategies to foster the development of children with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and discuss how programs and activities of the National Federation of the Blind can help children and adults with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia live the lives they want.

Participants will have the opportunity to win a grand prize of a $100 Amazon gift card by answering a question about a piece of writing on Mr. Sabine's web site. A question-and-answer session will also be available.
