[IL-Talk] 2023 ACB National Convention in Schaumberg

For those not going to the NFB convention in Houston, I wanted to let
everyone know that the ACB national convention will be in the Chicago
area at the same time. The convention will be in Schaumberg at the
Marriott Renaissance Hotel at 1551 Thoreau Drive, Schaumburg,
Illinois.  The ACB convention will have a vendor area of blindness
related products and services and presentations on many topics
including audible pedestrian signals and the new electronic book
reader from the National Library Service for the Blind.

Unlike the NFB convention in Houston that is reachable by reliable,
frequent, affordable, and quick public transit, the Marriott
Renaissance Hotel in Schaumberg can mostly be reached by cars.
Schaumberg is on the west side of O’Hare Airport and the airport only
has an access road on the east side by Rosemont, Des Planes and
Chicago. the Pace northwest transportation center is two miles from
the hotel. the nearest Metra are in Schaumberg and Palatine, depending
on the route.  Travelers would take a taxi or rideshare from these
locations. The transit apps show that Chicago residents can take the
Blue line to Rosemont, catch a Pace bus to Woodfield and the
Schaumberg trolley to a one-minute walk from the hotel.  I used Google
Maps and MoveIt for directions.  The trip takes about two hours from
my home on Chicago’s north side.
