Hi, everyone, I am sad to hear this news; I recall working with Ken on
numerous candy sales. He set a positive example for all of us to follow.
Let's go build the National Federation of the Blind!

What made Ken such an incredible salesperson was that he was so outgoing. He
talked to everyone he met, always with a good-natured laugh. He'd turn on
the charm, and then when he ramped up the sales pitch, they couldn't say no.
He loved the Federation, and he gave it his all.

When I think of Ken, I think of a fundraising effort with candy sales that I
had created and he enthusiastically approved. We called it the StaleyStaley
challenge. We challenged the Chicago chapter to sell 110% of the amount of
candy Ken would sell himself. He made this challenge quite formidable as he
had ordered something over $1,100 worth of candy himself. It turned out to
be the largest candy sale Chicago had that I was a part of. He was indeed
the candy king.

I am sorry to hear of this news. I will keep Ken, his family and friends in
my prayers. Ken was a very generous person, who gave a lot to the Chicago
chapter. I think he was known as the Candy King for his efforts at selling
chocolate bars to raise money for our chapter.
In recent years, Ken was unable to travel. And it was my pleasure to take
him his NFB membership coin. He seemed very happy and grateful to get it.
Please keep us posted if you learn of any arrangements.

Good morning everyone,

I have just learned that Ken Staley has passed away. He was hospitalized
during the past week and from what I was able to gather, he passed away
either Saturday or yesterday. Ken did a great deal of fundraising for the
Illinois affiliate of the National Federation of the Blind. Beyond that, I
will remember him as a person who possessed a heart of gold. He was always
one who shared whatever he had with anyone who wanted it or needed it. I do
not know anything of any arrangements at this time. If I find out anything,
I will let you know.at this time.
