If Andy goes to the doctor with me, he hangs back and doesn't say a word. That way they know they have to talk to me directly. In fact, I'll even go ahead of him we're walking in so he can hang back. If they start deferring to him, he'll say something like, she can do it. Or, ask her. she's the patient. I would also encourage you to contact equip for equality regarding this business of its clinic policy for you to have a witness. To my knowledge, there is no such policy around. I had a similar situation with the nurse at my son school back in October. I was able to advocate for myself and take care of it. However, I did contact equip for equality in case this kind of thing to happen again and the attorney I worked with provided me with some very helpful information. Of course, the information I got is confidential and I can't get into it here. All I could say is that it was very helpful and will serve me well next time I am ever in a similar situation. Good luck.
