Our Illinois caucus is Thursday, July 10 at 7:30am in Salon B. Please bring your banquet ticket to the caucus if you would like to sit with members of our Illinois delegation. Michelle Ault will handle the banquet exchange for us. Feel free to contact Michelle if you have questions about the procedures for the exchange. 2. Due to a limited number of people being present for the first night of convention, the traditional social on the first night of convention was cancelled but I encourage people to get together while at convention. It is an excellent way to network with members who we only see in-person once or twice a year. Feel free to reach out to me off list if you have questions or concerns. I look forward to seeing everyone in NOLO as we do the work of the federation and let the good times roll! 😊 Marilyn Green, President National Federation of the Blind of Illinois 312-343-8396 president at nfbofillinois.org www.nfbofillinois.org Live the life you want! Due to the Disability pride parade happening on July 26, we will hold our picnic on July 19. The start time is still noon, and the place continues to be the Landmark Cafe at Lincoln Park zoo. Please rememger that you may order food fro the concession stand at the Landmark, or you may bring a lunch of your own. Though we have listed the end time for 4:00 in past years, I hve decided to leave that open as people have left pretty much when they have wanted to do so. Please remember that the new date is July 19! Whether you are joining virtually or in person, I hope everyone has a great convention. I know we have a lot of new members, and I just want to share an important matter about the NFB convention. The reason for referring to the NFB convention as a convention and not a conference, is because we the members of the National Federation of the Blind will pass resolutions and elect our leaders. I serve on the resolutions committee and I urge everyone to review the 2025 proposed resolutions, which can be found at www.nfb.org/resolution . If passed, resolutions become the policy of our organization. The resolutions committee meets on July 9 at 1 PM and those that pass from the committee will come to the floor on July 12 for a vote. We will review the resolutions from the committee during the Illinois caucus on July 10.
