[IL-Talk] Let's Remember Who We Are

On further reflection, I think the current position for our list serve goes beyond making comments about our President, current, past, or future. The NFB has always been neutral when it comes to politics in general. That includes not promoting one candidate for president over another. It also includes not promoting one political party over another. We in Il-Talk should maintain that same kind of neutrality when it comes to our postings.

I'd like to explain I didn't write my initial comment based on just one posting by someone in our organization. What I saw then was what I considered a minor slip, but don't want such opinions to go beyond that one slip and get out of control.

I am not a lawyer, and I think I couldn't write an iron-clad description of what is proper or not proper for our Illinois version of an NFB list serve that could withstand scrutiny in a court of law. I don't think that's necessary, and believe those on Il-Talk understand what I'm talking about.

my initial comment was just a reminder to be careful in your postings as the political season heats up.

Thank you,
Robert Gardner

The initial message was relevant although the subject line was in my opinion not necessary to the posting. I think the issue arises when people reply with their opinions about the President.
Bob, correct me if I am wrong.

good call. My suggestion would be for our members not to post anything politics altogether. But that's just my two pennies worth. I could definitely see how these funding cuts would affect blindness educatio and I suspect the member who posted just wants to keep us in the blind community informed.just to be on the safe side, we probably want to repair pain from posting anything political altogether.
