Hello NFB of Illinois!
My name is Seyoon Choi, and I am excited to introduce myself to the National
Federation of the Blind of Illinois. I recently relocated from Saint Louis,
Missouri and have found a new home on the southwest side of Chicago. I am
looking forward to becoming involved with the Illinois affiliate and getting
to know many of you!
I have been involved with Federation for many years, first from when working
with our energetic and vibrant national student division back in 2019
kickstarting the NABS podcast initiative to the Missouri affiliate,
including serving as Second Vice President of the affiliate and most
recently as Secretary of the Saint Louis Lewis & Clark Chapter. I have also
held leadership roles within committees and been in the thick of local
chapter work prior to relocating. Professionally, my background is in
vocational rehabilitation and accessibility. I previously worked as a Senior
Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with Missouri Department of Social
Services, Rehabilitation Services for the Blind, and I am now beginning a
new chapter in the Chicago region as an Accessibility Resource Specialist at
Saint Xavier University.
I know many of you are currently attending the National Convention in Austin
now, so I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and say that I
am eager to connect once everyone returns. I would be grateful to learn more
about upcoming meetings, committees, events, and ways I can contribute to
the work of the Illinois affiliate.
I am excited for this new chapter in Chicago and look forward to growing,
serving, and working alongside all of you!
Warmly,
Seyoon
