The Chicago Chapter Advocacy Committee invites you all to join us on a tour
of three accessible wayfinding/informational installations in the Loop and
to share and learn more about each during our chapter meeting with special
guest CTA Chief Planning & Innovation Officer, Molly Poppe.

Together will explore, test out, and provide feedback on the Audible
Pedestrian Signals, ePaper Signs (Tablet Device with Audio), & Enhanced Bus
Stop Signs (with Bus Number & Direction).

The tour will take place prior to the August Chicago Chapter meeting on
Saturday, August 8th at 11am. In order to experience all three different
installations, we will travel between two intersections on Roosevelt Ave.
and then, for those who are able, we will head to Exchequer together on the
bus.

*The Plan*

First Stop: Michigan & Roosevelt @ 11am, Arrive by 10:45am

We will meet at the northwest corner of the Michigan Ave. & Roosevelt Ave.
intersection at the Bus 12/130/146 Roosevelt & Michigan Stop (Stop ID:
17084). The stop is between Wabash and Michigan on the north side of the
street. The exact address is 62 E Roosevelt Rd, Chicago, IL 60605. The tour
will begin promptly at 11am so please plan to arrive by 10:45am.

At this intersection you will be able to experience both an Audible
Pedestrian Signal and the ePaper signs.

If you are joining us for the first stop and come by L, you can reach the
Bus Stop Meeting Spot by exiting the Roosevelt Station and turning left,
the bus stop is just past the alleyway after Wabash Ave.

Second Stop: State & Roosevelt @ 11:30am

We will then continue by foot on to the second stop at State & Roosevelt
and meet at 11:30am on Roosevelt in front of the Walgreens. The exact
address is 2 E Roosevelt Rd, Chicago, IL 60605 and it is located on the
northeast side of the intersection.

At this second intersection you will be able to experience both the Audible
Pedestrian Signal and the Enhanced Accessible Bus Stop Sign that the
Advocacy Committee made happen!

If you are joining us only for the second stop and come by the L you can
reach the Walgreens by exiting the Roosevelt station and turning right,
it’s the last business on that block. If you come by Bus the 12, 18 29, or
62 all stop at the intersection of State & Roosevelt.

Following our tour, we will then head to Exchequer at 12pm via Bus 29 in
the direction of Navy Pier at State & Roosevelt, exiting at State & Adams.
Van Buren is the penultimate stop and upon exiting at Adams you will
continue in the direction of the bus, then turn right to go around the
corner at Adams and then turn right around the corner at Wabash to walk
south to Exchequer.

Important Things to Note:

1. All times are subject to change due to transit or other delays. Please
plan to arrive by 10:45am for the first stop and 11:15am for the second to
ensure you are on time. If you plan to meet us at the second stop and
arrive on time please note the first portion could be a bit delayed so
please be patient.

2. If you are concerned with keeping up or meeting us please be sure to
reach out to Kira at kobradov at gmail.com or (402) 670-1980 to let her know
you plan to be at the tour and which stops you plan to be there to
experience.

3. This tour will require about 10-15 minutes of walking combined as a
group and we worked to make the stops as close together as possible while
still being able to showcase all three of the different installations.
However, we understand that despite this it may not be possible for all to
join for both so you are more than welcome to join for one of the locations
if that makes it more accessible.

4. In case of the chance of inclement weather or air quality concerns we
will send out an email to IL-Talk to let you know of plans to postpone by
5pm on Friday, August 7th. If you do not hear from us then we are still on.

Hope you all can join us!
