</span></strong><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">This week, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson announced a new program for students with disabilities attending Chicago Public Schools. The new Diverse Learners Recovery Fund aims to provide
8,000 one-time cash grants to support their children with disabilities (max two per household). The program is a collaboration between the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities and Ada S. McKinley Community Services. Interested families should apply

</span></strong><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">On Thursday, May 2, Access Living will host a panel talk and community conversation about supporting people who acquire a disability through gun violence. The event is from 10 am to 11:30
am, in person only at Access Living, 115 W. Chicago Avenue, Chicago. Join us to hear WTTW’s Joanna Hernandez and gun violence survivors talk about survivors’ support needs. Access Living will also share about our new peer support program, and discuss the results
of a study we conducted with over 150 Chicago gun violence survivors with disabilities.
