Greetings, Everyone!

 

Attached please find minutes for the meeting of the Jayhawk Chapter of the
National Federation of the Blind of Kansas which took place at Signs of Life
Bookstore on November 20, 2010.

 

I must appologize for my tardiness. I've been extraordinarily busy and both
my laptop and desktop have been down lately. The desktop is at least limping
along again!  Hopefully it will continue to do so--indefinitely.

 

I'd like to make a couple of updates:

 

First, a reminder:  Our holiday gathering will take place at noon on
Saturday, December 11 at the Oriental Bistro and Grill located at 1511 W.
23rd Street. They have the name of our chapter and they also have my name,
so if one doesn't ring a bell with them, the other should! They have a
meeting room there which they are letting us use free of charge. The latest
trend in Lawrence, it seems, is to charge for rental of meeting rooms; and
the fee is non-refundable in most cases. 

I'd like also to note that Saturday December 11 is Cheryl Miller's birthday,
so we have additional cause for celebration at our gathering!

 

Regarding nuts:  I will make the final nut order on Monday, December 13,
which is the day Farmstead Treats starts their big sale to liquidate their
inventory by December 24. The only risk here is that if you order something
they're out of you can't get it until next year. That's why I want to call
the first day of the sale.

 

Upon speaking with Bob Fuller this evening, he tells me that we have sold
roughly $1200 worth of nuts and made about $450 from our sales. Add the $200
coming in a few days from Pampered Chef and we're giving our treasury a nice
boost. Thanks to all who have helped sell and who have ordered nuts!
