Subject: [Jayhawk-chapter] Update on Comet

Hello Everyone,

I am writing to update on Comet's condition. She and I went to K-State
University Veterinary clinic on this Tuesday the 12th. There Comet went
through pre-surgery examination. One point, I got a scare by being told
that Comet might have another tumor in her abdomen. The clinic did
ultrasound and it turned out that growing of a tumor in her abdomen was a
false alarm.

Wednesday the 13th from 8:00AM she had her full CAT scan and by 10:05AM she
was on the surgical table. The operation was done by 1:00PM that afternoon.
It went well and a team of veterinarians were able to take out the tumor
completely. Although she is still under critical condition and monitored by
ICU staff, she is certainly making good progress on her condition. She is
breezing on her own. Oxygen is still being supplied through her nose tube.
She also has a tube in her chest o pull out all the fluid in her chest due
to the pressure of the tumor. Her lung was pretty smashed because of the
pressure, but now tumor being out I am hoping it would expand back to
normal.

I greatly appreciate your emotional and mental support. Thank you so very
much for keeping your good thoughts and continuing your prayer for Comet's
recovery.

Sincerely,

Chikako Mochizuki
