Dear Ron and Cheryl,

We are so sorry, Ron, to hear about your diverticulitis!  I have heard that
it can be horribly painful.  Does vodka on ice, with a slice of lime help?
Or maybe a big, cold marguerita?  Or a cold beer?  Something?  Anything?!
Just trying to be helpful.  Liquor is quicker, you know!  We do wish you
well.

Cheryl, I am sorry I didn't have a chance to ask you about your eye
surgery.  I think you two sneaked out ahead of the crowd as our meeting was
closing last month, and I had forgotten to email you to inquire about it
soon after we learned that surgery was to take place some time before
that.  I hope things went well and that you are feeling well.  You two are
having a time of it!  I wish I could offer more than a feeble "wish we
could help."  Nevertheless, we do wish we could help and do want you to
know that we will be sending warm thoughts your way.
