Hello Jay hawk Federationists,
The Jayhawk chapter meet the blind month calendar is now set. On Tuesday evening, October 10 at 5:45 PM the May oral proclamation ceremony for national meet the blind month and White Cane Awareness Day Will take place in the city commission meeting room at City Hall, 6 E. 6th Street, Lawrence. We will be first on the city commissioners agenda, which means we are free to leave or to stay as long as we wish.
On October 24 we will conduct a public screening of the film “Do You Dream In Color.” The event will be held at the Lawrence Public Library auditorium from 6:30 PM to 9 PM. A discussion panel about blindness in general and about particular questions raised in this film will follow.
Let’s take every opportunity available to us to promote this extraordinary event. Please make this announcement on your website, Twitter page, or Facebook page if you have one. If you don’t have a footprint in social media, the old fashion way still works well too.
Last but not least, don’t forget our regular chapter meeting on Saturday, October 21 at 10 AM in meeting room B o in the basement f the library. This is our annual meeting, which means we will be electing our four officers for the upcoming year. Be sure to bring your $12 for dues which should be collected before we take a vote.
Needless to say, October will be very busy, then we host state convention in November! So let’s have a visible presence this coming Tuesday at the city commission and we’ll take it from there.
Best regards,
Rob
