Good morning Kansas Federation family,

The subject line pretty much says it all. Today our blind parents Bill of Rights becomes legal eight enforceable as of today. It was published in this weeks edition of theKansas register. We’re at not for the friendly amendment proposed by Senator Mark Steffen of Hutchinson, we would have had to wait until publication in the statute books, sometime around July 1, for our new legislation to become enforceable.

Now it is simply a matter of educating all of those involved in the childcare and juvenile justice systems end of all blind parents whether or not they are a part of the Federation. Remember that no legislation, no matter how well intended, is worth a paper it’s written on unless compliance is encouraged and enforced. In any event, thanks again to all of you who worked so hard to make it happen. Now it’s onward and upward.

Best regards,
Rob Tabor | first vice president/legislative Director national Federation of the blind of Kansas
