> That long last we have a hearing date on Senate bill 284, titled the Blind Information Access Act. The hearing will be held before the Senate utilities committee on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 1:30 PM in room 548 in the south wing of the State House. Hopefully, many of you have already prepared your testimonies so that they will be ready to go. Whether you have already prepared your testimonies or have yet to do so, here is a checklist of the guidelines for your convenient review.
> 
> • be sure to list senate Bill, 284 at or near the top of the page.
> 
> • mention that you are a proponent of the bill.
> 
> • specify whether you are giving written testimony, only or both oral and written testimony.
> 
> 
> • tell your story, i.e. how  you use Newsline and how does it benefit you.
> 
> • keep it brief; limit your testimony to one page.
> 
> 
> • keep it personal. Testify only as a Newsline user and not for NFB of Kansas. This will be done by our state president or myself.
> 
> • be sure to mention that you are a resident of Kansas. Listing your county of residence will be sufficient for this purpose.
> 
> • submit your testimony as an attached PDF file and email it to
> s.utilities at senate.ks.gov
> If you have written your testimony in an application,such as Microsoft Word, execute the command sequence file > safe as, and choose PDF from the list of conversion options. We advise you to save your original word file so that you can make appropriate changes when we are ready to testify before a house committee.

> Note: if you wish to testify remotely by WebEx link, yo You may do so, by soindicating  on your written testimony. As an additional safety measure, you might let me know if you wish to testify remotely. The deadline for submitting testimony is noon on Wednesday, March 13.

> Please feel free to contact Tom Page, myself, Donna Wood, or other affiliate members who are experienced in testified before the legislative committees, if you want help in preparing your testimony. We will not need a large physical presence in the hearing room, but the more testimonies that we can submit in favor of the bill, the more powerfully it will resonate with committee members.
