[Jayhawk-Chapter] Premature communications to legislators

Good afternoon, Kansas federation colleagues,

It has come to my attention that some of our members have conveyed a draft resolution to certain members of the Kansas Legislature. For the reasons I will explain below, we ask you to refrain from doing so in the future.

The NFB of Kansas is the supreme authority of the Kansas affiliate. Therefore, all approved resolutions, motions, and other policies are the official policy of the NFB of Kansas, but not until they are acted upon by the convention. The problem with relaying proposed resolutions to legislative bodies at any level is that if the resolution is voted down or is withdrawn by its authoors or the resolutions committee, the result will be that legislators end up being mislead as to our official policy positions.

Thank you for your faithful compliance with this request.

Regards,

Rob Tabor 1st vice president / legislative director National Federation of the Blind of Kansas
