President Donna has been comparing the costs of flying and driving cross country and costs appear to be generally comparable. Cross country travel will tack 4 days onto the convention schedule while an air trip will not. However, if we drive to Orlando in rented vans we will have ready access to vehicles to better enable Kansas conentiongoers to take care of matters away from the Rosen Center which is the headquarters hotel for convention activities. I emphasize here that stating your transportation preferences does not obligate you to attend the national convention. At this time president Donna is polling Kansas affiliate members to make preliminary plans over the next few months if enough of us want to travel with wheels on the ground. We have a little more time to ponder this one, but Donna is expecting chapter presidents to report numbers to the 2013 first quarter board meeting which will probably take place in January or February.
