<p>The City of Lawrence Pedestrian-Bicycle Issues Task Force will have a public meeting on Saturday, September 26 at 9:00 a.m. at the East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 E. 15<sup>th</sup> Street. Residents are invited to attend and provide input to the task force on ways to encourage safe and accessible walking and bicycling for people of all ages and abilities. Those who cannot attend are encouraged to submit comments online at <a href="http://www.lawrenceks.org/lawrence-listens#peak_democracy">www.lawrenceks.org/lawrence-listens#peak_democracy</a>.</p>
<p>“We want to know how citizens think the city should fund facility improvements, and how they would allocate limited resources,” said Marilyn Hull, chair of the task force. “We want to know what is the relative importance of options such as fixing bad sidewalks, creating more and safer bike lanes, improving sidewalks ramps and other ADA features, and making sure kids have safe routes to school.”</p>
<p>A <a href="http://www.facebook.com/events/822643394499771/">Facebook event</a> page has been created to use to share on social media.</p>
<p>“This is the time for citizens to speak up - before task force members start formulating recommendations,” said Hull. “Right now, our task force is seeking feedback and we are open to input. The meeting will be very interactive with residents having the chance to comment on the matters they care most about, whether that is street design policies, funding, priorities, or a possible advisory group structure.”</p>
<p>The Pedestrian-Bicycle Task Force was created this year and is working to generate a report to the City Commission with proposed actions and policy regarding safe and accessible walking and bicycling for the community.
