I intended to email you about my decision to resign my membership in Jayhawk Area Chapter of NFB way back last spring, so I apologize for not having written to you then, I regret that I no longer feel able to attend meetings on a regular basis (or much less than regular), due to my decreasing strength and energy and to the capricious nature of MS, (I can't depend on knowing whether or not I will be able to attend a meeting on any given day, until close to meeting time.)</div><div><br></div><div> I understand that some of you attend as often as you feel you can, even though you may not attend regularly -- and that's fine. I <br>find that not coming regularly doesn't work well for me. The chapter's mission to improve the lives of blind people in any way possible is, to say the least, a worthy one. I will continue to keep myself informed about the work of Jayhawk Chapter and of NFB nationally. Thank you for your good wishes while I was rehabbing my broken leg (just above my right knee). I am walking with a walker and continuing therapy --hoping to get stronger and more mobile. Pioneer Ridge Rapid Recovery ( nine weeks is rapid?) is a great facility, even if not able to make my recovery a rapid one. Wonderful, patient, professional staff. </div><div><br></div><div>However, home is better!!! The "staff" here is also wonderful, patient, and as good as professional, and the meals are marvelous...unlike the meals at PRRR. I should add that Harlan brought dinner from home for us every single night while I was at PRRR. (That would be 63 of them!). This effort on his part allowed us to have each other's company and great food too! I wanted to send a brief treasurer’s report since I missed yesterday’s meeting, and so many of us did!<br>

We now have online banking set up, and Rob will check out the accessibility of US Bank’s online system.<br>

I have talked to a new banker at a different branch about the monthly $5 charge we have been assessed for receiving paper statements. She advised waiting to go completely paperless with our statements until she has a chance to ask up her chain of resources about accessibility and non-profits. She will hopefully get back to me soon, and refund the $40 dollars charged so far!<br>

Our balance right now is $928.93, which includes dues from just one chapter member, Lynda Canaday.<br>
<br>
Looks like our next meeting is on October 21, where I can collect dues from the rest of us. I will write a check to the state NFB for $6 for each member, and deliver that at State Convention, November 10 & 11. Last year we had 12 paid members.<br>
