I have been reading these messages about volunteering and I find no fault
in that at all. It's a great way to start getting experience. I to wish
the negativity would stop. If I may ask, what do people on the build team
do? I'm considering it but want to know a bit more about it. Thanks in
advance.

Go look up the definition of volunteer. Volunteering is not a bad
thing at all, and I will say that I have been on the BUILD Team for
some time now,and enjoy it. Also, those of you who are hating on the
NFB about this should not even be on this list in my personal opinion.
Also, those of you who are spouting off this nonsense do not
understand that there are a ton of organizations who use volunteers
some of which I have volunteered with such as Habitat for Humanity and
a Wildlife Refuge. Other organizations that have volunteers are
hospitals, and many small towns and rural communities have all
volunteer fire departments and EMS agencies like where I currently
live. So, volunteering is not a bad thing like some of you try to
make it out to be,and I will say this now, I will eventually be
looking for volunteers to help out with my coffee business when the
timing is right, but the two posts I have seen so far against
volunteering on the BUILD Team, those two people can forget it
completely.

I don't know why is it exactly you expect blind people to work for you
for free pretty much.

and since we are on the topic, why does a group who advocates for
everyone else to hire the blind, and spouts off on why blind people
should not be worked for free. want to get blind people to work for
free?

Dear List Members,
The NFB BUILD program is a volunteer opportunity for blind people of
all skill levels to assist in accessible evaluation and design. Even
though it is not a paid opportunity, there are occasional awards, and
it could look good on your resume. Here is the link if you’re
