[Job-Discussions] 'This isn't Bernie's first rodeo': Senate Republicans tried to force Democrats to take a tough vote on a $15 minimum wage, but it did not go as planned

There are several reasons why it could be cheaper...one could be if it is
corporate owned, which I understand about 50% are or a franchise.
I'm not saying every time it will work, but for someone who has worked for
$2.35 per hours and worked up I've seen a lot of businesses whose profit
margin is less than 1% even whent hey do everything according to the book of
business. I've also seen businesses who throw that book away and their
profit margin is nearly 10% fo the same service.
I've gotten my coffee at Starbucks in one city and in another 5 miles apart
and the difference is nearly $3 per cup, my style which is custom.

Then don't do it you fool. I have a travel agency and a coffee vusiness,
and I also know and understand how business work and operate. You obviously
are someone who does not understand business. Watch this. How can a Large
Mocha from Starbucks be cheaper in Naples, FL than in Slidell, LA or where I
live now? Naples has a way higher cost of living etc. So, your point does
not always work.

Jordon, you're not understanding the cost of doing business. Costs of
everything go up or they go out of business without being able to provide
jobs for those making the minimum wage...the taxes on businesses are
enormous when it comes to business and they're no distinctions for small 10
person businesses than for those with a hundred or more...the tax rates are
the same. When you figure in the cost of materials and other items needed to
stay in business...
Did you realize that all fast food places make 75% of their profit on soda,
coffee, & French fries? I don't particularly like paying $10 for a simple
meal deal...which at this point isn't a deal Robert

Right. I don't see that happening completely, and there are more factors
than that that drive prices. Also, if you are happy at making minimum wage
or below the poverty line, so be it, but do not complain when others want a
better standard of living.

Everyone should also consider the idea that everyone's prices for literally
will go go up at a higher rate than the minimum wage...lest we forget the
employers taxes of unemployment, health, vacations, and everything else they
provide Robert

On the surface of things you'd think that a minimum wage law makes sense.
After all, if there was no minum wage, businesses would hire workers at the
lowest wage they could get away with, right?
Why is it being increased to fifteen. If fifteen is good, what about twenty.
Wouldn't that be better? Heck, why not thirty. It's not a black and white
issue of just arbitrarily telling businesses, hey, you have to pay this
amount of money to your workers, or else.
There have been actual studies done which show that, when a state passes an
increase in minimum wage law, lower wage workers actually get reduced hours.
And fewer lower wage workers are hired. So no, I don't see the increase as a
good thing.

and those of us on Social Security need to make sure we know the rulesand
follow them. We will be just fine.

going to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour soon. That is not true. See
this article, which explains that increases to that amount will be phased in
over the next four years. Enough time for the NFB to react to anything that
might hurt you.
