Mark,

There is a man in New Mexico who is working as an auto mechanic. I suggest
you contact their Las Cruces office. If that doesn't work, they should be
able to steer you in the right direction.

However, I must remind all of you that it is no longer legal for an auto
shop teacher at the high school or college level to decide that it is too
much of a liability to include a blind student in class. The student has a
legal right under the ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act to be
there. The question is how to reasonably accommodate him and do it in such
a way that he gets maximum benefit from the class. So the discussion needs
to be about how to make it work. We can help give them ideas on how to do
that.

Never allow anyone to talk you out of your legal rights, even if following
the law makes them uncomfortable.

NFB Employment Committee
