Mike,
IT is definitely a field a lot of businesses and states are hiring for. Two things to think about and do really. First is apply to as many jobs as you come across that you are interested in, and second, networking is your friend. The latter is exactly how I ended up being an accessibility tester.

Subject: [Job-Discussions] Looking for my next information technology job in St. Louis, Missouri
Hi,
I am new to this list. I was born and raised in St. Louis, and I am totally blind. I worked as a programmer for about six years, and am out looking for my next IT job.
I enjoy working with databases and web development. I am open to exploring really any IT opportunities, even outside of programming.
From a blindness perspective, what suggestions do you have for searching for jobs? How do you find jobs and companies that are friendly to hiring blind people? As a side note, I love remote work.
When you have landed that dream job, what do you do when you have issues with reasonable accommodations? I have experienced the situation where I obtain JAWS, but internal websites may not be accessible. How do you get the help you need in that case?
Thank you,
Michael Walker
