[Job-Discussions] Accessing Federal Contracts with Screen Readers

Hello Listers,

I'm in search of anyone who may be employed (currently or in the past) who has experience working with and accessing federal contract documents with a screen reader, especially from the point of view of the prime contractor, but perspectives from within federal agencies would also be useful. With my current employer we would love to employ a blind individual as a contract administrator or specialist, but some of the JAWS users (myself included) have struggled navigating contracts. This is largely because federal contracts are usually sent in PDF's, and these vary both in format and level of accessibility. Using OCR has helped, but to the degree that a person using a screen reader still cannot efficiently navigate and locate necessary information.

If you have experience in this area and you would be willing to discuss it with me, please let me know.
