And, I am very proud that Madison wrote that she wants to write her cover letter on her own. This is the best way to go. </div><div><br></div><div>in my experience, it is not so much what is written in the cover letter, rather more emphasis is put on how you write.<div><br></div><div>Buy this I mean, how well are you able to convey a point. Is your communication style understandable. Are you able to express yourself in a way that is in line with what they are looking for.</div><div><br></div><div>In the cover letter, it’s a great place to share anecdotes about yourself and experiences that are not already conveyed through the bulleted list of activities on the résumé. This demonstrates that you really believe in the opportunity you are seeking, and not just that you are using a formula That they could read already on the résumé. </div><div><br></div><div>Think of it more of an introduction of yourself, and if I were to say, tell me why you are the right person for this job. You might be able to express in that résumé the top three things or two things that stand out about you and your experience with relevant experience or 2 to 3 lines of story that coincide with the actual job application preferences. And sometimes adding in a little bit about what you understand about the organization from your own research will help. </div><div><br></div><div>The most important thing is make sure to edit the words written, and format everything correctly. I run a monthly session with the American Council of the Blind where<br>
cover letters and all things job related are covered. I've never heard<br>
of 300-500 words. In my experience, the shorter and more to the point,<br>
the better. Clarity is the main thing. If you have to explain wwhat<br>
you've written or if you think it can be interpreted more than one<br>
way, rewrite that part.<br>
