Hello,

I'm a blind person and I market the hell out of it! Even when
applying for boring work rather than performing, I portray it as
an asset. There's quite a bit of blind stuff on my resume; Braille
Music teacher, disability advocacy, I've done stuff for the
RNIB... Even if I never mentioned it, it would look rather
suspicious if I said nothing. I decided years ago to do it on my
terms not someone else's. If I turn up for an interview with a
cane and I've hidden it, at best, I'm a moron. At worst, I'm a
manipulative liar.
things we did was make a resume and it was suggested that
I put braille as one of my skills and since I didn’t know
any better I did but now I’m questioning whether or not to
have it on there since I’m not sure how helpful it’d be in
getting a job and besides I’m not sure I want potential
employers knowing I’m blind right off the bat as I worry
that I might get discriminated against simply because of
my blindness (I know that’s not supposed to happen but I
have a very hard time truly trusting anyone even if they
talk about accessibility). So as visually impaired people
do you think I should leave or remove it? Thanks and I
look forward to reading your thoughts!!
