Full Job Description<br><br>
Working Hours: Working hours for this position consist of a 7.5 hour
period (between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm) exclusive of a 1/2 or 1
hour lunch. These hours to be agreed upon between the supervisor and
employee at the onset of employment. In this position, the employee may
also be required to work one or two evenings per week (Tuesday and/or
Wednesday) in a 7.5 hour shift ending at 7:30pm. The employee may be
required to work additional evening or weekend hours. The employee has
the option to work these additional hours, in addition to or in lieu of
regular hours.<br><br>

Summary: This position reports directly to the Director of Disability
Services and works cooperatively as a member of the Student Affairs staff
to provide support to students, especially those with disabilities. The
AT/ESS will assist the Director of Disability Services in assuring that
students eligible for disability support services are provided equal
access to all college instruction and programs in accordance with ADAA
law and sections 504/508 of the Rehabilitation Act. The AT/ESS will plan,
develop, deliver and monitor comprehensive accommodations and services to
meet the needs of students. This will include teaching students to
utilize the adaptive technology that would be required by their
individual student plan. This position will also assist the Director in
developing and implementing programming to educate the campus community
about legal guidelines for students with disabilities and how to provide
equal access through accommodations.<br><br>

Education and Experience:<br><br>

Required:<br><br>

Master’s degree in special education, social work, developmental
education, higher education administration, or related field is
required.<br><br>
Minimum of two years of experience in higher education and experience
with students with disabilities is required.<br><br>
Knowledge of ADAA law and sections 504/508 of the Rehabilitation
Act.<br><br>
Must have at least an introductory-level understanding of assistive
technology and alternate media services and an interest in teaching
students to use them.<br><br>

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<br><br>
<br><br>
Work cooperatively as a member of the Student Affairs and Disability
Services staff, whose purpose is to provide support to students,
especially students with disabilities.<br><br>
Assist the Director of Disability Services in assuring that students
eligible for disability support services are provided equal access to all
college instruction and programs in accordance with ADAA law and sections
504/508 of the Rehabilitation Act.<br><br>
Conduct intake interviews with students with disabilities referred to the
Perkins Program.<br><br>
Review disability documentation and develop an individual student
accommodation plan.<br><br>
Plan, develop, and deliver comprehensive accommodations and services to
meet the needs of students.<br><br>
Provide assertive support and monitoring of students to strive for
student retention and completion of educational goals.<br><br>
Maintain contact notes and all other required Perkins program
paperwork.<br><br>
Meet regularly with program students, RACC faculty, staff,
administration, and community agency representatives to ensure the
success and improvement of the students referred to the Disability
Services Office as well as the Perkins Program.<br><br>
Conduct placement testing and provide advising for students with
disabilities.<br><br>
Serve as an advocate for students with disabilities and support
instructional faculty in transitioning students to the college
environment.<br><br>
Plan for, assist in and attend student transition-related events on or
off campus, including membership in the Berks County Transition
Coordinating Council.<br><br>
Assist the Director in developing and implementing programming to educate
the campus community about legal guidelines for students with
disabilities and how to provide equal access through
accommodations.<br><br>
Serve as a backup for Care Team hearing appeal meetings.<br><br>
Work with the Director of Disability Services to create a Disability
Services newsletter for the college community.<br><br>
Create and monitor departmental communication with DS students in
Canvas.<br><br>
Update and maintain current assistive technology used for or with
students with disabilities. Collaborate with IT and/or the Teaching and
Learning Center in this endeavor as needed.<br><br>
Track student borrowing of assistive technology housed in the DS
area.<br><br>
Teach students how to use various forms of assistive technology.<br><br>
Obtain textbooks and other instructional materials in alternate formats
for students.<br><br>
Communicate with specialized agencies who provide assistive
technology-related accommodations for students.<br><br>
Perform other related duties as assigned.<br><br>
