<b>Job Description</b><br>
<br>
The Iowa Library for the Blind and Print Disabled is seeking applicants
for the position of Librarian 1 to fill the role
of<a href="https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/iowa/jobs/3149474/access-services-librarian?department%5B0%5D=131+Iowa+Department+for+the+Blind&pagetype=jobOpportunitiesJobs&sort=PositionTitle%7CAscending&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery">
Access Services Librarian</a>.  This position oversees the daily
operation of access services including patron services, circulation and
collection maintenance.<br>
<br>
<b>Duties and responsibilities to include:</b><br>
<br>
<b>Access Services</b><br>
Identify, analyze and anticipate the needs of patrons; develop courses of
action to meet needs by reviewing patron accounts through the use of the
library's integrated library system including patron transfers <br>
Manage patron accounts through the use of the library's integrated
library system including patron transfers<br>
Oversee the processing of new patron application and patron
transfers<br>
Oversee interlibrary loan circulation<br>
Accesses relevant and accurate information to interpret eligibility
requirements and apply them to patron application and patron
transfers<br>
Provide Reader Advisory services to patrons by conducting reference and
reader advisory interviews to guide patrons to reading materials and
information resources<br>
Provide high-quality training in the use of specialized formats including
digital talking books, digital players, BARD, library's online public
catalog and other library services<br>
Assists library patrons by explaining the arrangement and resources of
the library and informing patrons of special books or materials to
promote an understanding of the library and its resources<br>
Provides reference services for library patrons; locates requested
subject information through catalogs, lists, and retrieval systems<br>
Locates literature on designated subjects by systematically and
comprehensively searching for information on the subject to formulate
bibliographic references, summaries, or direct answers. <br>
Enter patron book lists and requests into the library system<br>
Work regularly scheduled shifts at the Library's Information Desk
providing Reader's Advisory and Reference Services<br>
Assist in the integration of information literacy concepts into the full
range of library services<br>
Oversee Audio Book and Braille Duplication on Demand processes ensuring
the electronic and audio collections are accessible to patrons<br>
Processing the daily circulation of all library formats<br>
<br>
<b>Collection Management</b><br>
Ensure the physical library collections are easily accessible by the
public by managing the Braille, Print/Braille and Large Print collections
including the maintenance of physical library collection <br>
Maintain Braille, Print/Braille and Large Print collection stacks by
adjusting and consolidating<br>
Inspect the quality of materials for damage and process overdue
materials<br>
Evaluates, collects and synthesizes information from diverse resources to
determine needs within the library collection<br>
Assess and respond to diversity in user needs, user communities and user
preferences to determine needs within the library collection<br>
Assist Library Director in collection maintenance; including weeding
projects<br>
<br>
<b>Outreach and Education</b><br>
Participate in Library and Department projects, programs and
meetings<br>
Participate in the planning and implementation of library programs and
outreach as needed<br>
Update job skills that enhance ability to serve patrons<br>
<br>
 Minimum Qualification Requirements<br>
<br>
A Master's degree in Library Science from an accredited school of Library
Science;<br>
ORan undergraduate degree from an accredited four year college or
university and one year of full-time professional librarian or archives
experience (i.e., similar to work indicated in this description).<br>
