The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation empowers individuals with
disabilities to maximize employment, achieve economic self-sufficiency
and independence, and to contribute back to society. We also help
businesses and employers recruit, retain and accommodate employees with
disabilities. <br><br>
We are seeking a Voc Rehab Specialist – Certified to provide Personnal
Adjustment Counseling to consumers referred to the McDowell Center, to
include assessment, individual and group counseling, training, and other
rehabilitation services to address adjustment issues related to vision
loss. <br><br>
Key Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Provide Personal Adjustment Counseling to consumers referred to the
McDowell Center, to include assessment, individual and group counseling,
training, and other rehabilitation services to address adjustment issues
related to vision loss.
<li>Communicate on consumer progress with McDowell staff and referring VR
counselor through recommendations and updates in progress notes, staff
meetings, and written assessment reports, monthly reports and final
reports
<li>Work closely with the voc prep unit team, and provides consultation
services to VR staff. Makes recommendations for mental health referrals
when needed, and provides updates that are communicated with the team
through progress notes, staff meetings, and written assessment reports,
monthly reports and final reports.
<li>Evaluate medical, psychological, vocational, training and other case
records. Develop an individual training plan for consumers based on their
specific needs and goals.
<li>Perform other duties as assigned.

<b>EDUCATION:</b> Graduate of a college or university with a master's
degree in rehabilitation, rehabilitation teaching or therapy, guidance
and/or counseling, psychology, sociology, orientation and mobility,
social work, special education, education with emphasis in vocational
counseling or a related field. <br><br>
