Make sure that any interview training that you do includes training on
the Performance Based Interview, which has become the standard for
government and corporate employment.

Subject: [Jobs] Tentative Plans for Job Seeker Seminar

Hi Everybody,

The Employment Committee appointments have not come through yet,
although I expect them any day now. To keep things moving, I have
sketched out some plans for the 2013 Job Seekers Seminar, which will be
held on Monday, July 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the NFB national
convention. This year we will have a morning seminar and an afternoon
job fair. The morning will be taken up with job seeking skills
training, including interviewing. During the afternoon, there will be
employers present to interview people who are looking for jobs. So
people will be able to use the morning session to prepare for afternoon

Notice to Employers:

Last year we had many employers come to the Employment Committee
meeting, which is later in the week, to advertise job vacancies. If you
are one of those employers, I hope you will be able to come to the job
fair. There is no charge to employers or jobseekers to participate in
it. We will have a nice table for you to use for interviews.
Interested employers should e-mail me at ddavis at blindinc.org. I will
get you more information as it becomes available.

Notice to Presenters:

There are a number of organizations that have presented at the Job
Seekers Seminar in the past. Given the job seeking skills training
focus of this year's employment seminar, some of those presentations may
not fit the agenda. If they don't, you will still be able to present at
the Employment Committee meeting later in the week. Please let me know
if you feel your presentation would fit the seminar, or if you would
like space on the committee meeting agenda. Again, e-mail me at
ddavis at blindinc.org.

I am filling in for a vacant staff position right now, so my office time
is at a premium. E-mail works best for me because I can respond after
hours. If you call me, it will probably be several days before I can
get back to you.
