[Jobs] Any Social Security experts?

Thank you for confirming this Andy. Working while receiving S.S.D.I. is the
most important topic I have listened to since I have been on this list.
S.S.D.I. can be a wonderful thing if someone has the knowledge they need for
working while blind and receiving S.S.D.I. benefits. S.S.D.I. determines
what sorts of jobs many of us decide to pursue. It sure does for me! I am
starting a new job next week and I am flirting with my S.S.D.I. again and
thank goodness I know what I know about S.S.D.I. so I am able to make as
much as I possibly can without me having the need to worry about giving up
my S.S.D.I. benefits again. I appreciate the good discussions about working
while blind and the negative discussions get old since my own work horror
stories can't be topped by anyone on this list in my opinion.

Most people might call SS themselves, but most people aren't blind or
visually impaired. Also, how often have you talked with a representative on
the phone and known immediately that you shouldn't trust the information
that you are receiving? It is good to call SS, but it is also good to go
into the call well-armed and with a good knowledge base. Maybe you should
consider those items here and also consider some of the bullshit discussions
that have happened on this list and have gone on and on and on and on...

No disrespect intended on any level, but this is a very important topic and
it ultimately does concern all of us.

Andy

Rather than to start a whole new week-long discussion regarding the Social
Security administration on this jobs list, why not simply call Social
Security and ask your question? I don't mean to come off as rude, but isn't
that what most people would do?

OK, am still looking for work, but have come up with another question.

Those who are Blind receive some extra SSD benefits just for being blind.

Now what happens if there is no SSD, but have the regular SS retirement
payment for retiring at age 62?

If the normal person retires at age 65, they will receive their SS
retirement payment each month, but they can also continue to work, and as
far as I know, there is no limit upon how much that person can earn.

However, if someone retires early, say at age 62, these people have a limit
upon what they can earn. And if they earn more than the limit, they end up
paying some of the Social Security payment back.

Here is my question-
Since sometimes we get an extra benefit for being Blind, does anyone know if
the restrictions of the amount a person can earn if they retire at age 62,
is the same as it is for everyone else, or do we folks who are Blind get a
Pass on those restrictions?

There is work out here, just not much of it pays enough to live on by
itself. However, combined with retirement, life could continue without
getting caught up in Subsidized housing, Food Stamps and Energy discounts.

Thanks for any responses,

Grumpy Dave
