[Journalists] Question about visual media

Talk to a guidance counselor about an alternative prerequisite. Perhaps "New Media" that covers things like pod casting and spoken word reporting/editing. Concentrate more on copy editing and improved writing skills.

"Visual Media" is one of those classes, like driver's ed, that while it's helpful to know the terms and uses, just doesn't have a workaround for blindness.

I bet you could do a lot of work on web design, as html and some of the other elements are text based. A media outlet might find it helpful to have a person who could at the very least evaluate a web site for usefulness to the blind.

These are my thoughts as a former journalism student. I have enough sight that I did take the visual media classes. So what that I had to clean nose prints off the screen, laugh.

Best of luck,
Done Dennison

Hi Mikaela,

I'm afraid that I'm not going to be much help with your questions on visual
media.

I certainly hope some of our college students on list can help. I think her
question is a good one.
