[Journalists] About digital journalism and visuals

Hi Liz

I feel compelled to to add my 2 cents to the topic of digital journalism, I practice and mentor for more than 15 years.
I'm curious to know Liz what you mean by "how to incorporate visual in stories" . From a blind perspective visuals are tricky to describe for now, it will be easier when deep learning technology will be implemented and machines able to recognize images. This is coming fast here are links -among others-describing the process in motion:
https://developer.nvidia.com/deep-learning

http://www.nature.com/news/computer-science-the-learning-machines-1.14481

For now getting the right visuals for your stories means relaying in keywords, metadata, accessibility from services provided video and images as you may already used.
If you have another specific issue on this topic, I'll be pleased to answer.
Regarding online/ digital journalism it is an incredible opportunity for our community. Data journalism, is online research to extract info needed not only to incorporate in a story but also to get stories.
In depth investigation can be done online, as well as publishing, and promoting stories. I'm very passionate with digital journalism, so if you have any questions, let's talk about it!
Have a great week-end...
Carole
