> This week's discussion leader was Patricia, who discussed guide dogs. She shared a few cities, New York City and San Francisco, where you can get a guide dog and training using the guide dog at no cost. The group shared comments about interest in using a guide dog and some of the reasons why a guide dog may not be best for them at the moment.

> B. Explore the Plants of the Wissahickon
> This event was designed with the blind and visually impaired in mind. It includes a brief discussion, guided walk, and sensory exploration of the plants of the Wissahickon forest. This will be a first-hand experience of the diversity of forest plants and some of their defining characteristics.
> First there will be a short indoor session introducing some of the plants of the Wissahickon, focusing on the use of texture, smell, and shape as keys to plant identification.  Then there will be a  short hike to put this knowledge into practice, examining plants as we follow a gravel road and a paved trail along a small stream to the Wissahickon Creek.
> Date: Thursday, October 20 (rain date on Thursday, November 3)
> Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm (if using CCT, please make your ride for 12:30pm)
> Location: Historic Rittenhousetown, located at 208 Lincoln Drive, near the intersection of Lincoln Drive and Wissahickon Avenue.
> Cost: A donation of any dollar amount of your choosing

> Pennsylvania will increase the income threshold for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) applicants next month, making the program accessible to more Pennsylvanians,
