[KeyStoneChapter] Keystone Chapter Meeting Recap and Links

Hey there, Keystone Chapter Members and Friends,

It was a beautiful day on Saturday for our August Keystone Chapter 
meeting! The members and guests in person at the Penn Museum enjoyed 
doughnuts from Giant. We listened to Presidential Release #551 [1] from 
President Mark Riccobono. Harriet read a thank-you note to thank members 
of the chapter for the Harry and David Gift Basket she received after 
her father's passing. (Thanks to Lisa for organizing it!)

Harriet asked chapter members to keep Kosi Asabere and Jim Graham in our 
thoughts and prayers. Both recently had surgeries.

There was an in-depth discussion about the legality and history of 
paying people with disabilities less than minimum wage, and the NFB's 
advocacy to end this practice. Read about 14c of the Fair Labor 
Standards Act [2].

Report from the Social Activity Committee about potential group outings 
(art museum, Franklin Institute, ferry ride), and plans for Blind 
Equality Achievement Month activities in October.

After the meeting, 10 of us walked over to Cira Green for our annual 
picnic. Cira Green is a park 12 stories above the Schuylkill River.

Dues for 2026 are now being collected. They are $10. Pay online via 
PayPal [3] (and don't forget to check the box to cover the PayPal fees.) 
You can also pay by cash or check at a meeting or when you see me. Can't

Affiliate Update

NFB of PA President Lynn Heitz gave an update on what is going on around 
the affiliate. She talked about the Mid-Atlantic Student Seminar that 
took place in Philadelphia from August 1-3. The affiliate was supporting 
the National Association of Blind Students. Lynn, myself, and PABS 
President and Keystone member Simon Bonenfant were all honored to be 
presenters and moderators during the event.

NFB of PA State Convention

Lynn and I talked about the 2025 State Convention at the Best Western 
Premier in Harrisburg from November 13 through the 16. Learn more about

September 15, there is an All-inclusive early bird package. For $200, 
you get all nine meals and convention registration. Register now [5]!

Chapter Auction Item for State Convention

The Keystone Chapter will donate a basket for auction at the State 
Convention. It will include $200 worth of gift cards to various stores 
and restaurants, along with $50 worth of PA Lottery Scratch Off tickets. 
I have attached a letter for you to take to national chains to solicit 
gift cards. If you don't have a printer, let me know and I'll send you 
some letters by mail.

Federation Focus

The affiliate has created a weekly video called Federation Focus. In it, 
I discuss the various chapter and division meetings that week and
