The National Federation of the Blind of Louisiana and Louisiana Parents of
Blind Children invite you to the *2015 STATE CONVENTION.*

You are cordially invited to attend the 2015 Annual State Convention of the
National Federation of the Blind of Louisiana (NFBL).  The NFBL is an
organization of blind and visually impaired Louisianians who believe that
with the appropriate training, attitude and opportunities, blind people can
live the lives they want.  We believe that it is never too late to learn
new techniques and new ways of thought.

                                              *TOPICS PRESENTED*

The convention will cover a wide range of topics, including:



‚                  How to become comfortable with my blindness

‚                  How to deal with day-to-day activities such as reading
mail, transportation, preparing meals, managing a household, and networking
(in person or online)

‚                  What types of employment opportunities are possible

‚                  Meetings for blind students, parents and teachers of
blind children,  seniors, entrepreneurs, and the newly-formed deaf-blind
division

‚                  How to obtain assistance from the Social Security
Administration and other human services agencies

‚                  How to know when I need to use a white cane, or when to
learn Braille

‚                  How to get help for my blind child

‚                  How the newest technology could benefit me

‚                  How a blind person can fully participate in hobbies such
as cooking, traveling, community service, gardening, hiking, acting in a
play, and shopping (to name a few)!

                                                 *EVENTS OUTLINE*





*Convention Registration* begins at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015.  Check
the website at www.nfbla.org for opportunities to pre-register or contact
800-234-4166 for pre-registration forms.  Registration will be $25 if
pre-registered, and $30 for onsite registration. Pre-registration forms
must be in by March 20th.  Pre-registration is non-refundable.



*Room Rates**:* $78 per night (singles, doubles, triples, etc.), plus tax
which is currently at 13%.  Please make your reservations directly with
Holiday Inn by calling 318-688-3000.  Be sure to mention that you plan to
attend the state convention of the NFBL to receive the convention rates.
Rates and availability cannot be guaranteed after March 15th.



*Meals**:* Complimentary dinner on Friday night, lunch on Saturday, and
continental breakfasts Saturday and Sunday mornings for persons registered
for convention.  Banquet meal on Saturday night (tickets can be purchased
for $30 at the registration desk or through pre-registration).



*Child Care* will be provided during scheduled meetings and the banquet on
Saturday evening.  Children must be registered.  Please make every effort
to request child care in advance on pre-registration form so proper
accommodations can be arranged.



*Entertainment**:*  In convention tradition, Friday night will offer dinner
and an auction.  In addition, the convention will host bingo, a dance, an
original play performed by Louisiana Center for the Blind actors, adaptive
technology exhibits, and of course, DOOR PRIZES GALORE!!!

nonrefundable fee required to ride the bus.  Space is limited).
