CREATED BY
Oskar the Blind Cat

Meet Oskar! Ever since he was a tiny kitten, Oskar has been in training for something really big. He has shown millions of fans that, when given the chance, the blind can open the doors to limitless possibilities! Thanks to the selection committee of Story Time from Space, Oskar's award-winning children's book, The Mission to Cataria, is literally launching into orbit! It will be read by a real astronaut aboard the International Space Station (ISS) and broadcast to classrooms across the globe via video feed! Additionally, a series of experiments which relate to the book will be conducted aboard the ISS and turned into a classroom curriculum that illustrated how blind scientists can effectively study the universe. These will be designed by real astronauts, scientists, and a team from the National Federation of the Blind.

Be sure to share this campaign with all of your friends, family and co-workers! Use #OSKARintoORBIT in your social media posts to show your support for this adventure!

Story Time From Space ignites children's imaginations and fuels their need for scientific discovery by sharing amazing stories, like The Mission to Cataria, from 250 miles above the Earth. Oskar needs YOUR help to show that learning about space should be accessible and fun for all. In order to send Oskar's book on this mission, we need to raise $5000 to cover the cost of preparing the book for space travel. All you need to do to LAUNCH OSKAR INTO ORBIT is buy this limited T-shirt today! Thank you for joining us on this incredible journey!

MORE ABOUT THE FUNDS:
The funds raised for this campaign will be used to cover the costs of getting the book through the payload process. This includes materials testing to prepare the book for launch sometime in 2017 (the exact date will be determined soon). Any funds raised beyond our $5000 goal are greatly appreciated, and will be used to build more awareness about Oskar's involvement in Story Time From Space (media licensing, advertising, marketing).

MORE ABOUT THE BOOK:
The Mission to Cataria is the second book in the Oskar & Klaus adventure series. After hearing that a mysterious asteroid will be passing near Earth, the daring Oskar coaxes his reluctant buddy, Klaus, to volunteer for the space misson. After becoming official ASTROCATS, the duo—along with their new robot companion—blasts off to explore the alien world. Thrilling action fills every page as Oskar shows the universe that, although blind, he has the right stuff!

The Oskar & Klaus book series has been awarded the prestigious Dr. Jacob Bolotin Award by the National Federation of the Blind. This award recognizes organizations working in the field of blindness that have demonstrated exemplary leadership and extraordinary accomplishments toward achieving the full integration of the blind into society on a basis of equality. The Oskar & Klaus team is overjoyed that Oskar's story has inspired thousands of children with the knowledge that you can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds one back. The Oskar & Klaus book series is available in both print and print/braille today. Learn more at www.OSKARandKLAUS.com

MORE ABOUT THE SHIRT:
The T-shirt or sweatshirt that you'll be receiving says "I'm launching Oskar into orbit!" and features an image of Oskar in his space suit floating in orbit while tethered to the International Space Station, visible in the background. Furthermore, there is tactile braille below the image that reads "Oskar into Orbit". This is the official slogan of the campaign to launch Oskar's story into orbit. Plus, the image of Oskar in his space suit is also tactile, so all of Oskar's blind and visually impaired friends can enjoy the shirt's design as well! How fun is that? (In case you have never encountered it before, tactile printing allows a person to feel the image with the fingers as it is slightly raised off of the shirt.)

MORE ABOUT STORY TIME FROM SPACE:
We are absolutely thrilled that Oskar's story has been selected to follow only a handful of children's books that have ever been be sent to the International Space Station as a part of this tremendous program.

Story Time from Space is a project of the Global Space Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit education foundation. The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
