I?m Seyoon, and have lived in St. Louis for about 7 years, approaching 8 in more specifically a suburban town of Chesterfield. I was born in South Korea but my family?s decision to move to midwestern US in 2012 was for the better as the country offered inclusive mainstream education as well as variety of camps, independent living training, orientation and mobility, and overall just a positive environment for the blind person like myself. I was diagnosed with leber's congenital amaurosis or (LCA) for short since birth, which severely weakened my optic nerve. I currently have up to light and shadow perception on my right while my left is just about total. Enough said about my eye condition? I have graduated high school just this last May and will be studying political science with a pre-law track at Saint Louis University this coming fall. I was introduced to the federation through other friends located throughout the states and their national convention attendance. I attended my very first convention this last summer when it was held in Orlando, Florida, allowing me to connect with other students and reunite with familiar faces that I?ve met through online list serve and Facebook. I have also applied to the state level NFB scholarship as well as the national level, but at national was proved difficult. Switching gears? I play blind hockey here in St. Louis with St. Louis Blues blind hockey club, and thanks to the Stanley Cup champ Blues support and endorsement we are able to sustain our presence and soon a competitive team among other blind hockey clubs across the country as well as in Canada. Please reach out if you would like to specifically get to know me, for any questions, and hope to interact with many of you soon through the monthly membership calls, email communications as well as of course, various seminars and conventions. :) If you prefer I will also include my social media links below! https://www.facebook.com/seyoon.choi09 Regards Seyoon Seyoon Choi Saint Louis University Class of 2023 blindinsider1 at gmail.com (314) 650-8306
