> The August meeting of the Cambridge Chapter was called to order at 6:31 PM
> In attendance:
> John Oliveira
> Kobena Bonney
> Mika Pyyhkala
> Cullen Gallagher
> Al Sten-clanton
> Masha Sten-clanton
> Kristina Constant
> Debby Malone
> Shirley Dorris
> Sengil Inkiala
> David Ticchi
> Kyle Shachmut
> Vinod Chawla
> Justin Heard
> Jenn Bose
> Elizabeth Ann Johnson
> Both the minutes for April and June were accepted as written.
> Mika gave the Treasurer's Report. There was minimal activity in our treasury. We had our standard $50 PAC contribution, and $0.01 in interest. The balance for the Cambridge Savings Bank checking account is $1,800.14. The next source of money will be from the upcoming David Ticchi Walk donations. Cullen moved that the Treasurer's Report be accepted, and it was seconded. The motion passed.
> The August Presidential Release was played. You can access it at the following link: https://nfb.org/sites/nfb.org/files/2022-08/presidential_release_518_august_2022_chapter_version.mp3 <https://nfb.org/sites/nfb.org/files/2022-08/presidential_release_518_august_2022_chapter_version.mp3>
> One of the items discussed in the Presidential Release is the opportunity to have the October Presidential Release Live hosted by a chapter or affiliate. The question came up if we could do this as a chapter. There were a number of things brought up to consider, including if we had enough time to come up with a proposal, where we could host an event, and what cost would be involved for the chapter. There was a strong interest from several members in trying to pursue this. Following discussion, Kyle moved that a committee be appointed to look at the feasibility of and create a proposal for the October Release. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Jenn Bose, Shirley Dorris, Mika Pyyhkala and Sengil Inkiala will serve on the committee.
> Shirley gave an update from the Chapter Location Committee. A couple of places are willing to host us, and the committee is waiting to hear back from a few others.
> The Cambridge public library is willing to host us every other month.
> Justin's college, Hellenic College Holy Cross, is also willing to host, and could do either Saturday morning or our current Monday evening.
> The committee is waiting to hear back from MIT, and the committee believes that this might be the best option if it is available.
> The senior center where we previously held our meetings is open to exploring allowing us to come back, but there is a process that would need to be followed.
> Following the report, there was a discussion on meeting time. Making a decision on meeting time, Saturday mornings or Monday evenings, would narrow down the location options, making selecting a location easier. Members wanted to hold off and see what options would be available to us, and no vote was taken on this issue.
> The David Ticchi walk was discussed. The walk will be Sunday, October 9 at Fresh Pond in Cambridge. Continue to monitor your email for more information. David encouraged everyone to set a goal to raise at least the amount we received in assistance to attend the national convention. Even if someone cannot attend the walk, they can still raise money and ask for sponsors.
> Some issues with the MBTA were discussed, including an issue with The Ride Flex and Uber. Cullen also reminded everyone that the Orange Line will be shut down from August 19 to September 19. The Green Line from Government Center to Union Square will also shut down between August 22 and September 19.
> The next meeting will be Monday, September 12.
> Meeting adjourned at 8:09 PM.

> The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
