Subject: [Nfbnet-members-list] Blind and low-vision adults needed for research to study barriers and facilitators to access HIV prevention services
The below research participant solicitation is being provided for informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our research mission.
Dear Colleagues from the National Federation of the Blind,
My name is Juliana Soares Linn, and I am doing my doctoral dissertation research to gather more
understanding on access to prevention services among people with disabilities in the United
States. The tile of the study is “Breaking the Cycle of Invisibility: Pilot Study of Barriers and
Facilitators for People Living With Disabilities to Access HIV Prevention Services in the United
States. Through this research, I am evaluating the extent to which HIV prevention services are
tailored to the needs of people living with disabilities, what are the facilitators and barriers to
care. I am currently recruiting representatives from disability groups in the United States to
participate in an online survey. I would like to invite you to take part in this online survey
because I feel that your experience can help my understanding and knowledge of how people
with disabilities are receiving care. The results of this research will be used to determine barriers
and facilitators to uptake and adoption of effective HIV prevention services. We hope results of
this study will inform future health policies to improve access to prevention health services for
people with disabilities.
If you agree to contribute with this study, please refer to this link for the online survey
https://breakingthecycleofinvisibility.com/survey/survey-on-access-to-hiv-prevention-services-for-people-living-with-disabilities-in-the-united-states and full informed consent. This is an
anonymous online survey, and it should take about 15 minutes to complete. The questions will be
about you, and your experience accessing prevention health services as a person living with
disabilities.
If you have any questions or suggestions about the online survey or this study in general, please
feel free to contact me at jumaputo at ad.unc.edu <mailto:jumaputo at ad.unc.edu> .
Kind Regards,
Juliana
