Hi everyone,
I am resending the May Cambridge Chapter minutes. I look forward to seeing you all tonight at 6:00 PM at Cambridge citywide senior center for our June meeting.
Thanks,
Cullen

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

> Cambridge Chapter Meeting Minutes, May 8, 2023
> The May meeting of the Cambridge Chapter was held via Zoom. It was called to order at 6:03 PM.

> Jenn Bose
> Stephen Yerardi
> Rashad Saadieh
> Rachel Kobierecki

> Debbie Malone
> Christine Diaz
> Laurie Mattioli
> Mika Pyyhkala
> Justin Heard

> Vinod Chawla
> Jenn led the NFB pledge.
> The April meeting minutes were accepted as corrected.
> Mika presented the Treasurer's Report. Our account balance is $1,800.05. We had our standard PAC contribution. We typically give Scott Hurley from Cambridge Savings Bank a gift for his assistance with our walk. It is usually a $100 gift card and a gift box. This will come out of our account.
> Kristina moved that the Treasurer's Report be accepted; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
> Justin presented highlights from the May Presidential Release. You can access it at the following link. https://nfb.org/sites/nfb.org/files/2023-05/presidential_release_may_2023_chapter_version.mp3
> It is also available on NewsLine.
> Vinod indicated that he plans to attend the national convention, and would like a roommate. You can contact him by emailing chawlavk at hotmail.com or calling him at 617-599-8886. He was OK with having his contact info in the minutes.
> Cullen reminded everyone that pre-registration closes May 31. The price is discounted when you pre-register. For those who cannot attend, there is also a virtual experience. This option is free.
> Tonight's meeting was virtual for a few reasons. Justin sprained his ankle and was unable to walk, and Stephanie was planning to run for vice president but was ill. We did not think it was fair to hold the election without her. We were also not 100% sure that we had the equipment for running a hybrid meeting. Cullen thought he might be able to do it, but there was not a lot of time to test everything.
> Next month, Justin will not be able to attend in person. However, Cullen will have enough time to set up his equipment for the hybrid meeting. Cullen and/or Shara will be able to run the election for Vice President, and Justin should be able to run the rest of it remotely.
> Stephen Yerardi is interested in joining the chapter, and he introduced himself. Cullen moved that we welcome Stephen as a new member into the chapter, the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Welcome, Stephen!
> Shirley and ElizabethAnn are looking at fundraisers and selling our T-shirts. They hope to set up tables at upcoming events. The national office is sending Shirley pamphlets for everyone to learn more about the federation. She is also working on getting a tablecloth with our logo.
> Debbie said that we are also exploring selling the shirts online.
> Justin will send out another Google Sheet for those who want to bring snacks. Shirley volunteered to check the room over after the meeting to ensure that everything has been cleaned up and nothing has been left behind. Of course, it is important that everyone helps keep the space clean.
> The next meeting will be held on Monday, June 12th.
> Meeting adjourned at 7:03 PM
