Beep Baseball is Coming to Fenway!

Experience Exhibition Baseball Like Never Before

To celebrate opening day yesterday, we're so excited to announce that the Boston Red Sox are hosting a Beep Baseball Exhibition at Fenway Park on April 20th between Adaptive Sports New England’s Boston Strong and the Association of Blind Citizens’ Boston Renegades, Saturday April 20th at 1pm. 

>From our Braille All-Stars & Future All-Stars Gina Quintanilla, Sanibel Davis, David Ducasse and Matthew de Brigard, to present and former staff like Wynter Pingel, George Kamara, Karen Nagle and (player coach) Joe Quintanilla, the Boston Strong team is stacked with National Braille Press talent that also includes nine braille readers!

Hear the sounds of baseball as these two teams of blind children and adults compete and demonstrate an adaptive form of America’s pastime with beeping baseballs and buzzing bases. Concessions will be available and all the involved organizations will have booths to peruse as well. The team at Fenway will also be hosting a tactile walking tour of the Park at 3:15pm - first come, first served!

April is Poetry Month!

NBP is happy to announce our fifth annual Poetry Circle, coming on Tuesday, April 23rd. Read your favorite poem or your own work! This year's theme is connection and there will be two sessions again this year, at noon and 7pm eastern time. Please sign up for only one session if you're planning to read! Our noon session will be hosted by Peter Altschul and the 7pm by Deborah Kendrick. You can even get your next poetry book at NBP - "Everything is Going to Be All Right:Poems for When You Really Need Them" is currently in production, but stay tuned for when it hits the bookstore!

Our 2024 Braille Across America team has already travelled over 900 miles together and met more than 20% of our fundraising goal over the first 11 days of the challenge (so we've virtually made it from Boston to Indianapolis!). But, we still need help to make it to San Francisco and meet our fundraising goal of $75,000!

So whether you'd like to run, bike, walk or roll solo or as a part of a team, join in the fun while supporting National Braille Press and braille literacy! 
All participants who raise a minimum of $1,000 and teams that raise a minimum of $5,000 will receive a Limited Edition NBP Braille Baseball Cap with braille on the brim which reads "NBP is Braille".
