Meeting Minutes
10/8/2024
Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM.
Ice breaker/Roll Call:

Debbie presented the icebreaker of what is your favorite part about Halloween. Those in attendance at the October 8th At Large Chapter meeting were Gannon Olson, Debbie Malone, Shara Winton, Cullen Gallagher,  Elizabeth Ann Johnson, Alan Larkin, Sandy,

NFB Pledge:
The pledge was recited by  Sandy and is as follows I pledge to participate actively in the effort of the National Federation of the Blind to achieve equality, opportunity, and security for the blind; to support the policies and programs of the Federation; and to abide by its constitution.

Secretary’s Report:
Gannon sent out the meeting minutes for September to all members. Not everyone had a chance to look at it. So it was tabled for November . So for our next meeting in November there will be two months of reports.
Treasurer’s Report:
Sandy presented the treasurer’s report and was tabled for November.

Presidential Release Chapter Recording:
Gannon and Cullen played the Presidential Release Chapter Recording.  We will add a part of the meeting where we recite the NFB belief statement.


Uber/Lyft Rally:
It is on October 15th in San Fransico.  We need stories about denials for share to facebook
State convention:
It is from March 14 to 16 in Springfield. Only five auction items. Each chapter will do one basket or big item for the auction.
Blind Equality Achievement Month and Fundraising
         Festivals/fairs
Three fairs, they are

Holiday Get together:

Planning on a holiday get together. Would be in December. Try aand find some place that is centralized. If we cannot get together we could do secret santa over zoom.

Advocacy Team update
Inkie gave a quick update on the concern about the complaint for Walmart and tried to look into finding someone from the  corperate website. But the national team is working on it. Meeting occurs on the third wensday of the month.

Legislative Updates:
Kira still needs people to call or email our representatives about the need to work act.
Guide dog group update:
Writing a proposal to send a bill about making it a criminal offense to discriminate against someone with a guide dog.
Next meeting: 11/12 @ 6:30
