As of October 1, 2024, MBTA reduced fare program cards are being replaced with non-personalized cards. Program benefits will remain the same. Riders applying for a new or replacement Blind Access CharlieCard will receive a card that no longer includes their photo or a printed expiration date. By making this change, the MBTA is working to reduce the amount of time between a rider being approved for and receiving their new or replacement reduced fare CharlieCard. Riders with the new, non-personalized cards can find their card expiration date by: Tapping them at a fare vending machine Checking the application approval email Checking the printed packing slip received with a card Checking the letter received during an in-person card pickup Riders with personalized cards that have a photo and printed expiration date can continue using those cards as they usually do. Existing cards do not need to be replaced unless they are lost, damaged, or expired. You can apply for a new, renewal, or replacement Blind Access CharlieCard online or at the Charlie Service Center. You can also replace a lost, stolen, or expired Blind Access CharlieCard, by contacting Customer Support at 617-222-3200. Please direct all questions to MBTA Customer Support.
