Hi all,
Our next at large meeting is this Tuesday January 14 at 6:30. Also please find here the minutes from our november meeting.
NFB MA At-Large Chapter Meeting Minutes for 11/12/2024
Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 6:30pm.
Ice breaker/Roll Call:
Sandy presented the icebreaker of what is your favorite tv show from when you were a kid. Those in attendance at the November 12th At Large Chapter meeting were Gannon Olson, Debbie Malone, Shara Winton, Cullen Gallagher, Elizabeth Ann Johnson, Alan Larkin, Sandy, Liz Lesperance, Kristina, Brian Langlois and Grace.
NFB Pledge:
The pledge was recited by Kristina and is as follows I pledge to participate actively in the effort of the National Federation of the Blind to achieve equality, opportunity, and security for the blind; to support the policies and programs of the Federation; and to abide by its constitution.
NFB Belief Statement:
Going forward we will include this statement in every meeting. The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day, we raise the expectations of blind people because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
Secretary Report:
Gannon sent out the meeting minutes for September’s meeting along with last months for October. motioned to be accepted by Cullen Gallagher and Sandy and seconded by Brian Langlois and Liz Lesperance.
Treasurer Report:
Tabled for Further discussion
Presidential Release Chapter Recording:
Cullen Gallagher played the Presidential Release Chapter recording.
Affiliate President Report:
Shara provided the updates of if you voted either good or bad please fill out the survey. Uber wants self indification of people with guide dogs. But the NFB is strongly opposed. NFB has written a letter to the department of education about acceisblity but will be null invoid. Santa letters have began if you have a child under twelve . Shara also provided some changes we could make to the Washington Seminar is coming up. . State convention is mid march specifically march 14 to 16 in Springfield. Bell academy just started a pampered chef funderaiser.
State Convention:
There will be less then ten items for the auction. Each chapter is going to present an item. Our item
Could be the meta band glasses and Cullen is looking into it.
Upcoming Festivals and Fundraising:
December craft fair in Saugus and runs from 10 to 2. Meat sticks have been sold but very few, but also received donations. We can also do an online store for a month. Also looking for places to sell them. Shara offered to help sell them. Our online store will run from November 17 to Jan 1. Other ideas include possibily getting a table in front of Target. Another idea is to do a giving Tuesday campaign after thanksgiving. Come up with some kind of challenge after the holidays to raise funds.
Holiday Get together:
Would take place of the December meeting. Only day that would work is December 8 at an place in Lynn that Shara can get a place. We will do a secret santa and have a total of $30.
Advocacy Team update:
No new updates since there was no meeting last month. Next meeting is the 20th.
