Hi all,
Last month I emailed an opportunity for blind parents to attend a skill
builder weekend at the Carroll center for the blind. It has now shifted to
a virtual one day event more details are below. If you need help filling
out registration or would like to talk about it over the phone, please feel
free to reach out. Additionally, if you know anyone that would benefit from
this program, please share.
Skill Builder Workshop: “Back-to-School” for Blind Parents!
Join us on Friday, August 22, 2025, for a special Back-to-School Skill
Builder Workshop designed for legally blind parents! If you have basic
VoiceOver or Zoom skills and want to boost your confidence with everyday
parenting tasks, this course is for you.
📍 Location: Virtual
🗓️ Dates: Friday, August 22, 2025
🕒 Time: 10am-3:30pm ET
What You’ll Learn:
- School & Health Portals: Navigate tools like PowerSchool, Google
Classroom, and MyChart
- Calendars & Reminders: Stay organized with calendar apps, voice
assistants, and scheduling tools.
- Communication Skills: Practice clear and effective communication using
accessible tech.
- Getting Around & Getting Things Done: Explore tools for transportation,
grocery shopping, and household management
- Real-World Practice: Apply your skills to real-life parenting scenarios
in a supportive environment.

This is led by blind parent mentors and compassionate professionals who
understand your experience. You’ll build practical, relevant skills to
support positive parenting, grow your confidence, and connect with others
in a supportive community.
