Hi Everyone,

Here are the August parent division notes.

 

Ellen Bartelt

 

 

August Parent Division Notes:

 

The August parent division meeting was called to order on August 28, at 6:09
P.M. The people who were in attendance were Ellen Bartelt, Youm Wen Ly, Hai
Wen Ly, and Stephanie Valdes. Youm resighted the NFB pledge along with her
kids.

 

Secretary Report:

The minutes were voted on from the June meeting. The meeting minutes of June
were approved.

 

Treasury Report:

Stephanie received a check for the parent division in her mailbox. She was
going to figure out the amount of the check. She will email Hai, and Ellen
when she has the amount. Ellen is going to look at the drive to see how much
it is in our treasury.

 

Outreach:

We want to have more parents attend our meetings and events. Youm will look
over our non-member list in the drive. She will reach out to people on the
list and invite them to events and meetings.

 

Meet the Blind Month:

Shara wants each division and chapter in the state to come up with an event
for meet the blind month. We thought of different events during our meeting
and will decide next month. Ellen will look into attending a corn maze.
Stephanie will look into having a table during the Cambridge Walk. Youm will
look into having an event reading braille books at a library. Hai will look
into having coffee either at a coffee shop or a library.

 

BELL:

The BELL program took place for the first two weeks of August. There were
four students who signed up before the program    started. One student could
not attend the program because they did not have their own transportation.
One student cane from far away and took part in the first week of the
program. There were two students who attended both weeks of the program. The
students went on field trips to an ice cream place, and on a boating trip.
The students did art projects each day. The students were able to play
outside at a playground and a splash pond. Next years BELL program will take
place during the first two weeks of August.

 

Meeting ending: The meeting ended at 7:10 P.M.
