Dear Cambridge Chapter Members,

Just a friendly reminder that our next Cambridge Chapter meeting will be held on Monday, September 14, beginning promptly at 6:00 PM at the Cambridge Citywide Senior Center on the second floor.

We are especially excited to have a special guest presentation at this meeting featuring LUMIN, a new app that I believe has the potential to be a very helpful tool for people who are blind or visually impaired. LUMIN offers technology designed to assist with everyday tasks and access to information, and I think many of you will find the presentation interesting and useful.

Our presenter will not be able to join us in person, so he will be joining us via Zoom during our meeting. Because we want to give him as much time as possible to demonstrate LUMIN and, most importantly, answer your questions, we will keep our chapter business relatively brief.

We will still take some time to discuss the David Ticchi Walk and take care of our usual chapter business. However, we want to make the most of the time available for this presentation and give everyone an opportunity to ask questions and learn as much as possible about LUMIN.

I also want to let everyone know about something that was brought up and discussed at our August chapter meeting. Because there was a great deal of discussion and we ran out of time, the matter concerning the proposed change to our email list was tabled.

After speaking with our Vice President, Inky, as well as several other members who have expressed concerns, we have decided that this topic deserves its own dedicated discussion rather than trying to address it during our regular chapter meeting.

Therefore, a special Zoom meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, September 16 at 7:00 PM, specifically to discuss the change to our email list.

I strongly encourage anyone who has questions, concerns, thoughts, or opinions regarding this matter to attend this meeting. It is important that everyone who would like to have a voice in this discussion have the opportunity to participate. Setting aside a separate evening for this topic will allow us the time needed for a thorough and respectful discussion without the time constraints of our regular chapter meeting.

I will send the agenda and Zoom link for Monday’s meeting over the weekend, so please keep an eye on your email. That message will be at the top of the email list and will contain everything you need for Monday evening.

I look forward to seeing everyone Monday evening and to what I hope will be a very informative and worthwhile presentation!

Warmly,

Shirley Dorris
