<p dir="ltr"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Dear Carroll Center for the Blind Community,</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Researchers at Harvard are looking for volunteers who are living with blindness or a visual impairment. Participants will be asked to walk and navigate between two points in indoor and outdoor settings, using either a standard white cane or an augmented white cane that can provide feedback. Participants will be asked to walk at their own pace to complete each walking task comfortably.</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">To be eligible, you must be:</span></strong></p>
<ul>
<li dir="ltr" style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;" aria-level="1">
<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Between 18-65 years old. </span></p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;" aria-level="1">
<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Diagnosed with blindness or a visual impairment.</span></p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;" aria-level="1">
<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Able to understand and communicate with the study staff.</span></p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;" aria-level="1">
<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">No diagnosed or self-reported medical condition that could interfere with participation (e.g., hearing impairments or walking disorders).</span></p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;" aria-level="1">
<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Comfortable walking with a cane while blindfolded.</span></p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;" aria-level="1">
<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Live in the Cambridge/Boston area.</span></p>

<p><strong><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Additional study information:</span></strong></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">You will be asked to complete at least 1 research study visit but can volunteer to participate in more.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Each study visit will last approximately 150 minutes, with a total walking time of less than 120 minutes. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Eligible participants will receive a <strong>$100</strong> gift card for participation in each research study.</span></p>
