Please register if you have not yet done so.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:windowtext">David<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;color:windowtext"><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal">The Bay State Council of the Blind Social Committee and the National Federation of the Blind of Massachusetts invite you to feel art from the masters at the Perkins School for the Blind Grousbeck Center on Saturday April 26. This event is being sponsored by the Perkins Braille & Talking Book Library. The tour is free but if you would like to purchase a box lunch from Panera too, there is a $20 fee. Information on the tour and how to register is below. The deadline for registering is Tuesday April 22.<b><o:p></o:p></b></p><h2>The Tactile Tour<o:p></o:p></h2><p class="MsoNormal">Seven Art Movements, a free tactile exhibition presents famous works of art reimagined as cutting-edge, sculpted installations and embedded with sensors that provide audio insights. You will experience these masterworks like never before!<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Enjoying art masterpieces is usually a visual activity, and people are often asked to not touch the works. But, through a collaboration between Perkins Library and Tactile Images, a Chatham, New York company, blind and low vision individuals, their friends, and families, can experience some of the world\u2019s most famous pieces of art that now include incredible levels of detail by touch. Through the works of masters like Leonardo da Vinci, Johannes Vermeer, and Vincent van Gogh, Seven Art Movements delves into the history and evolution of seven critical art movements across time: The Renaissance, the Baroque, Neo-classicism, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Art Nouveau, and Expressionism. The exhibit seeks to explore each individual period through subject matter, craftsmanship, and style\u2014shown chronologically. By utilizing three-dimensional, tactile technology, the exhibition\u2019s prints elevate faces, objects, and other elements of the artwork, allowing people living with blindness or low vision a chance to touch and form mental images of everything from van Gogh\u2019s distinctive brush strokes to the Girl with a Pearl Earring\u2019s mysterious stare.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Tour sessions will be scheduled every thirty minutes in matching pairs of two individuals throughout the day. It will take approximately one hour to complete all seven exhibits. But, you can plan on staying for the entire day to hear speakers from area arts organizations sharing about their accessibility programs.<o:p></o:p></p><h2>Register for the Tour<o:p></o:p></h2><p class="MsoNormal">Register by opening the link below. Along with contact information, you will be asked to choose your preference for when you would like to take the tour, beginning at 9:00 AM and going until 3:00 PM. We will try as much as possible to respect your preference, but cannot guarantee the exact time you choose. If you wish to purchase lunch for $20, also select your lunch preference (choices are listed below and in the form). After activating the Submit button, you can pay your $20 lunch fee through the PayPal link provided. If you have a PayPal account, you can pay with that. There are also options to pay by credit or debit card. When prompted for an amount, type 20.00 in the edit field. If you would like to make an additional donation to BSCB, just type in a larger amount here. There is also a checkbox asking if you would like to pay a small processing fee. If you are coming to the tour from outside the MBTA zone, you may be reimbursed up to $100 for this cost. It will be reimbursed only after you have attended the tour. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Elements of the policy are:<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoListBulletCxSpFirst" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo3"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family:Symbol"><span style="mso-list:Ignore">·<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span><!--[endif]-->Only BSCB members in good standing are eligible for the subsidy.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoListBulletCxSpMiddle" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo3"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style="font-family:Symbol"><span style="mso-list:Ignore">·<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span><!--[endif]-->Reimbursement is limited to travel to BSCB statewide events: the Spring convention, the Fall conference, and Social Committee-organized events. Reimbursement is for actual travel costs.
